Non-Objective Collage

Three paintings painted differently, one cool, one warm, and one of choice. Then each one is embellished differently with marker, crayons, and colored pencils using expressive lines. The paintings are cut apart in equal divisions and then reassembled in a collage.

 

Giuseppe Arcimboldo Portrait

Using wallpaper books and magazines, students are to create a unique and interesting portrait along the lines of the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo.

 

Low Relief Sculpture

Using a CD students glue odds and ends that are not too high. Cover with foil and using a Q-tip to gently conform to shape of objects. Using permanent wide tip black marker, cover the surface of top. Gently burnish with a steel wool pad. Glue to a black circle backing that is larger than the CD.

 

Watercolor Study

Create squiggles lightly in pencil. Divide in larger circles three times. The inner circle is the true colors. The next circle is tint or the color plus white. The next circle is shade or color plus black. The last circle is complementary colors, orange, purple, and green.

 

Form Sculpture

Florist foam for base, florist wire and knee hi to form simple abstract sculpture. Using watered down glue and strips of tissue paper to wrap form. Let completely dry and then paint.

 

Starry Night

Reinterpret Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Night" by making it your own. Use the same thick brush strokes as Van Gogh in the creation of your own painting based on "Starry Night".
